Connect
The database Overview shows the host, port, database, user, password and SSL mode, as separate fields or a connection string. Download CA certificate if your client verifies the server. TLS is always required.
Connections are accepted only from your project network and trusted sources. Valkey uses the default user; PostgreSQL and MySQL start with an admin user bnadmin and a database defaultdb.
Users and databases
On Users & databases, add a user for each app so you can revoke one without affecting the others. Reset passwords and add or delete databases here too. Every time a password is shown, it is recorded in the activity log.
Trusted sources
Add IPv4 addresses, ranges, or one of your VMs by name. Only trusted sources can reach the public endpoint. App Platform apps that attach the database are added automatically.
Backups and restore
Backups run daily and are kept for 7 days. The first one runs within a day of creation. Restore or fork creates a new cluster with the same engine and size from a backup; the original keeps running, and the new cluster is billed separately.
Resize, storage and maintenance
Resize changes the size. The server restarts, so expect a few minutes of downtime.
Add storage adds disk without downtime. It cannot be reduced later.
Minor version and OS patches roll out once a week in your one-hour maintenance window.
Delete
Deleting stops billing and removes the cluster. A final backup is kept for 7 days, so support can restore it if you change your mind. Apps connected to it stop working straight away.
