Register a domain, then build a WordPress site on it
Search for a name, register it, and put a WordPress site with HTTPS and a matching email address on it, all from one account.
When the domain and the hosting are in the same account, the fiddly part disappears: there are no DNS records to copy between providers. Here is the order to do it in.
Step 1: find a name
Open Domains → Register a domain and type a name or keyword, for example mybrand. We check it across popular extensions and show which are free, with the price per year. Filter by extension, or show only names you can register.
Short, easy to spell and easy to say out loud beats clever. If the .com is taken, a country or industry extension is often a better choice than a long hyphenated name.
Step 2: register it
Choose Register next to the name.
Pick the registration period, and turn on Auto-renew so the domain does not lapse.
Fill in the owner’s details. Registries require them to be accurate; we fill in what we already know.
Pay with your saved card.
The domain shows Processing until the registrar confirms it, usually within a couple of minutes. Wait for Active before the next step.
Step 3: create the WordPress site
Open Website. In the wizard:
Domain: pick the domain you just registered.
Application: pick WordPress and enter the admin details.
Email: create a mailbox such as hello@ on the new domain.
Hosting: create a hosting account with a plan, or use one you already have.
Because the domain is registered with ByteNests, its DNS is pointed at the hosting for you, and the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records for your mail are included in the details we email you.
Step 4: check HTTPS and mail
On the hosting account’s SSL tab, check the certificate was issued and turn on Force HTTPS.
On the Email tab, open the Deliverability panel and add any record it says is missing.
Send a test message from webmail to a personal address and check it arrives in the inbox.
Step 5: launch
Log in at https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin, set up your theme and pages, and take a first backup on the Backups tab once you are happy. The full WordPress checklist is in How to deploy a WordPress site.
