Your own private cloud drive with Nextcloud
Create a ByteNests cloud storage account, sync files from your computer and phone, and share folders, without handing your data to an ad company.
ByteNests cloud storage is a private Nextcloud account: a Dropbox-style drive that syncs your files, photos and backups across devices. Your files are not scanned for advertising, and nothing is shared unless you share it.
Object storage or cloud storage?
Made for: People: syncing folders, photos and shared files.: Apps and scripts: media, backups and data over the S3 API.
Access: Desktop and mobile apps, browser, WebDAV.: S3 tools and SDKs, console.
Billing: A plan by storage size.: By what you store, download and request.
For app data, see Getting started with object storage.
Step 1: create the account
Open Storage and choose New storage account.
Choose the storage size.
Pick a username (it is checked as you type) and a password of at least 12 characters.
Optionally add a display name shown on files you share, and an email address for password resets and share notifications.
The account is ready in about a minute. The account card shows the server URL, your username and an app password.
Step 2: sync your computer
Install the Nextcloud desktop client for Windows, macOS or Linux from nextcloud.com.
Enter the server URL from the account card.
Sign in with your username and the app password from the card.
Choose which folders to sync. Files you add to the local folder upload automatically, and changes from other devices download.
Step 3: your phone
Install the Nextcloud app for Android or iOS and sign in the same way. Turn on automatic photo and video upload to back up your camera roll as you take pictures.
Other ways in
Browser: Open storage on the account card opens Nextcloud on the web, where you can upload, preview and share files.
WebDAV: connect the drive in your file manager or a backup tool that supports WebDAV, with the same server and app password.
Keep an eye on space
The card shows how much space is used, and Sync usage refreshes it. If you need more room, create a larger account.
Deleting a storage account removes every file in it and cannot be undone. Download anything you need first.
